Town of Paratico

The town of Paratico lies within the territory of the Parco Oglio Nord, so also within that of Franciacorta, of which it is the eastern border, and also within that of Lake Iseo. Its name may derive from “paratica”, a term used to indicate a tax, perhaps linked to the passage of the River Oglio which still divides the two provinces of Brescia and Bergamo. The bridge, first built from wood in 1817 and then later from iron, in 1889, links Paratico to the town of Sarnico and marks the border between the end of Lake Iseo and the beginning of the Oglio. Last but not least, we should remember that since Paratico is part of Franciacorta’s territory, we can also find vineyards, wineries and farming estates.
